Milan Fashion Week: Emporio Armani AW18

A collection usually pitched at the younger Armani audience, there’s no doubt that the Emporio Armani line has matured for AW18. Whilst still keeping that free, fresh edge, this season Emporio delved into a world of luxe textures and sophisticated pairings.

The collection was all about coexistence, both in terms of styling and showcasing. Pairs of models crossed the runways on co-ordinating sets, from cool cut-out, asymmetric, shearling coats to the statement-making suits, created in both a bold green checked fabric as well as a more conservative grey.

There was a lot of leg for an Autumn/Winter collection. Miniskirts, shorts and thigh high dresses were paired with over the knee western-styled boots, ankle-encasing heels and barely-there velvet flats.

As always, Armani couldn’t help but play with fashion’s current obsessions and heavy logo’d knits and elevated sportswear featured prominently throughout the collection, paired unconventionally but seamlessly with that western twist. Velvet sweats, loose track pants and EA mohair knits stood out as dressed up daywear – an everyday look that held a sense of occasion.

If there’s one thing not to be missed, it’s the brand’s simplistic colour palette: black, grey and green with so much shimmer. Crystal embellished everything seemed to be the aim of the game and boy did it work with sparkles sprinkled across everything from velvet jumpsuits to a Prince of Wales check trouser suit.
