With the release of her first solo single today and her tour starting next week, Ella Eyre is about to take over. With a Brit Award under her belt for her collaborative single ‘Waiting All Night’ with Rudimental and a writing credit on the Number One single ‘Changing’ by Sigma and Paloma Faith, at just 20 years old there is a lot still to come from Ella Eyre.
We caught up with her to find out more about her inspiration, style and what she’s most scared about on tour…
- Question: Your new single ‘Comeback’ is out today, can you tell us a little about it and the recording process?
-
Answer:
I wrote it when I was about 16, so it’s been quite a while coming. It’s a bit of a revenge record and is something everyone can relate to it; everyone has been taken advantage of, not necessarily in a relationship, so it’s just my way of saying fuck them. It’s a way of turning a negative into a positive situation.
I recorded it in Sweden along with two producers which were so much fun. I love Stockholm, it’s such an awesome city. It’s so much like London but with all of the best things and none of the bad!
- Question: Are there any extra tracks that you love on Comeback?
-
Answer:
The single has an extra track called ‘Bullet for You’ included which was originally from my live set so it’s great that I get to share it with everyone.
- Question: Describe your style in three words…
-
Answer:
Feminine, bold and uncomplicated.
- Question: What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
-
Answer:
Probably my Pam Hogg catsuit I wore at the Brits, it’s one of those things that really suits me and I completely love it. It has plunging neckline so thankfully I was fortunate enough to not slip out at the Brits!
- Question: What’s your favourite look you have worn on stage?
-
Answer:
The other one was Alan Carr this weekend, it was a catsuit handmade by my stylists. It has such a beautiful floral print and it’s sheer, it fits perfectly and shows off all of my best bits.
- Question: Which was the best show of London Fashion Week for you?
-
Answer:
My favourite probably was Ashish, I’m wearing Ashish right now actually! That snakeprint print made out of sequins was just amazing, I’m so into animal prints right now.
- Question: Who is your fashion icon?
-
Answer:
Probably Lana Del Ray, I love how simple but sexy she is. She’s uncomplicated and shows off her feminine curves without showing off too much skin, she has such a beautiful strong look.
- Question: You are due to start your tour very soon, what are you most looking forward to and most scared about?
-
Answer:
I‘m really looking forward to set changing, I’ve been off tour for about about a year and a half so really excited about my fans getting to see everything. I’m also scared about the big crowds and winning more people round but ultimately, I’m really looking forward to it.

- Question: Where is the most inspirational place in the world for you?
-
Answer:
In the English countryside; I grew up in London and went to school in Somerset so it’s amazing when you go somewhere like The Lake District, it’s almost like a different planet, it’s beautiful. I associate England with the city but going out to the countryside is so inspirational.
- Question: What can we expect to see next from you?
-
Answer:
Obviously the tour starts on the 1st of October and the release of my single Comeback is today, but definitely look out for some more collaborations coming up early next year.
