Which sunglasses will suit my face shape?

The sun has finally graced us with its glorious presence and we couldn’t be happier. Alongside a trusty SPF and bottle of water, protecting our eyes with a pair of sunglasses is a must as we bask in the rays.

But with so many shapes and styles out there, it can be tricky to choose the best frames for you. One of the best ways to decide this is to consider the shape of your face, as different shape frames will quite literally frame your face in different ways, and some more flattering than others.

We’ve broken it down face shape by face shape which frames will compliment your features the most, from Bottega Veneta cat eye shapes to oval frames from Gucci, we’ve got a little something for everyone…

#2 Heart Shaped Faces

If you have quite defined cheekbones, a broader forehead and a more pointed chin, then you have a heart-shaped face. When shopping for your new sunglasses a cat eye or square frame will be the most flattering for you. Choose thick and dark frames to highlight your face, such as the Bottega Veneta Classic Acetate Sunglasses. Square frames also complement a heart-shaped face beautifully. #3 Oval Shaped Faces

Oval shaped faces are the sweet spot when it comes to sunglasses. With a slightly narrower than wide shape and even proportion, people with oval-shaped faces can almost get away with wearing all styles of frames. #4 Round Shaped Faces

If your face has rounder curves, fuller cheeks and your forehead and chin are aligned in width then you have a round faced shape. Because your face is mostly proportionate, try to avoid choosing round sunglasses as this will define the rounder curves of your face. Opt for square, rectangular or wayfarer style frames to create structure and focus on the centre of your face. Tom Ford rectangular frames in thick black are the perfect addition to your sunglasses collection or add a little je ne sais quoi with Saint Laurent square frames.

#5 Square Shaped Faces

Are your cheekbones, chin and forehead all aligned? If yes, you should be looking for either round or oval-shaped frames. A favourite from one of fashion’s favourite decades the 60’s, round sunglasses are still as chic today as they were almost 60 years ago. Choose classic round frames from Ray-Ban, Gucci and Chloé.
