London Collections Men: Aquascutum AW15

The return of Aquascutum to LCM has been one loaded with expectation, excitement and trepidation, that much could be seen from the crowd eagerly awaiting a first glimpse at the new AW15 collection. Within the darkened room stood 12 models in 12 spotlights backlit by a short film showcasing the collection further, it did not disappoint.

Head of Menswear Design Thomas Harvey explained that this collection was stepping away from trend and instead focusing on innovative fabrics and techniques whilst keeping the classic, traditional elements of the Aquascutum brand.

With a nod to Edmund Hillary’s Everest expedition, one which Aquascutum played a part in developing fabrics for, the collection is peppered with references, from the racoon fur trim to the pull cords.

An instantly wearable and contemporary collection, Aquascutum AW15 lends itself perfectly to styling with head to toe looks that could step out of the presentation and be instantly at home on the streets of London. Thomas Harvey has clearly taken note from his time at Reiss and brought his learnings straight to Aquascutum AW15. Precision tailoring is at the heart of the collection with meticulous attention to detail, fit and materials. Italian cashmere suits are styled to perfection with pure silk, showerproof macs showing luxurious fabrics can be worn daily.

Traditional techniques are used in innovative manner, for example seam-sealing, a traditional technique used in macs and waterproof clothing, has been used to finish goose down jackets. Leather has been rubberised to create reversible bomber jackets and the classic herringbone has been magnified to create a fabric exclusive to the brand.

Iconically Aquascutum, the colour palette stays firmly within the confines of Autumn/Winter with beautiful dove greys, deep navy, olive green and steel.

A refreshing collection from Aquascutum for AW15 with modernity, wearability, innovation and luxurious fabrics as the focus.
