#1 What is Face Yoga?

Simply put ‘Face Yoga’ is a workout for your face. The idea is that this will help to keep your face and neck looking more toned and help to lift areas that are starting to become crepey or have loss of elasticity.

#2 What are the benefits of Face Yoga?

Not only does it help to improve muscle tone but also it will increase circulation in the skin, bringing up fresh nutrients to give your skin a more radiant glow. Face Yoga promotes healthy glowing skin and will reduce tension and stress in your face.

Workouts for your face are especially good for anyone who clenches their jaw or grinds their teeth at night!

As well as all the amazing benefits it has on the physical appearance of the face, it will also improve overall wellbeing by relaxing the mind and is a perfect activity to do at night to wind down before a great night sleep.

#3 When should you do Face Yoga?

Face Yoga can be done at anytime throughout the day. It’s important that the skin on the face is thoroughly cleansed beforehand and making sure hands are clean as well. To perform Face Yoga at home you may choose to apply a light serum or oil before you begin, which will help your hands to glide much more easily over the skin.

For an uplifting pick me up, Face Yoga can be done in the morning to give your skin a wake-up boost. Spend around 5-10 minutes performing some facial exercises and massage to kick start the day!If you would prefer to create more of a wind-down relaxing ritual, perform face yoga in the evening before bed. Face Yoga will help to relax both mind and body and any products you apply following on from the workout will penetrate more efficiently as you sleep. Spend around 15-20 minutes carrying out your Face Yoga ritual in the evening.

#4 How do you do Face Yoga at home?

First make sure you have cleansed your face and hands. Find a quiet space, either sitting comfortably on a chair or on the floor in front of a mirror. You may choose to apply a serum or oil on to the skin to begin. Before you begin any movements start by taking a few deep breaths and closing the eyes. Free your mind of any thoughts or worries and let your shoulders, neck & face relax.

Cheek Lift

First make an o shape with your mouth, then smile, lifting your top lip over your teeth to raise your cheeks. Use your index fingers to raise up lightly under the cheekbones. Repeat 20 times.

Eyebrow lift

Place 3 fingers on each hand under the eyebrows to lift. Smile and then try and push your eyebrows down against your fingertips. Hold and then repeat 10 times

Jaw release and neck lift

Close your lips together and extend your lower jaw forward slightly. Use your jaw to do a small scooping movement by opening the lips slightly each time, scooping up about 1 inch as you slowly tilt your head back with each movement until you are facing up to the ceiling. Repeat 10 times.

Forehead lift

Using all fingertips on each hand place them onto your forehead above the eyebrows. Use your fingers to do a static lift and circle movement as you move out across the forehead towards the temples lifting off after each lift. Repeat 10 times.Finish off by circling onto the temples to release any tension and just let your face completely relax.Repeat daily or 2-3 times a week.

#5 The Takeaway

Face Yoga is a great self-care ritual to incorporate into your daily routine, which not only helps overall wellbeing, but it may help to improve your appearance by toning and strengthening your facial muscles.Taking some time for yourself each day and performing face yoga is a reminder to reconnect and ground yourself and become more in tune of what your face and body needs.
