Paul Smith’s Record Collection
Paul Smith is a man who knows his music – and constantly finds inspiration in it. It’s one of the reasons he started out as a designer in the first place, when in 1970 he was caught up in the world of art, music and design that characterised that period and opened up his own menswear boutique in Nottingham, no formal qualifications to speak of.
Music continues to inspire him, playing a big part in his catwalk shows each season, as well as influencing his men’s and women’s collections. Paul has recently curated three playlists of his favourite tracks, both new and old; each song and playlist entirely personal.
The playlists take the listener on a journey through Paul Smith’s life and many influences – from the songs that remind him of his years travelling and the artists he has built relationships with over the years (Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page and David Bowie among them), to the jazz music of his youth and the contemporary artists currently on his radar.
Expect an eclectic mix spanning songs from Curtis Mayfield, Miles Davis, Sade, Van Morrison and Father John Misty and get an insight into Paul Smith’s life that you’ve never had before. Discover the playlists
