London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood Red Label AW15

vivienne westwood aw15 report

After a frantic dash across a rather rainy London we arrived at the Science Museum for Vivienne Westwood’s Autumn/Winter 15 show. The weather was not enough to dampen our excitement to see the new collection for the first time, Vivienne Westwood Red Label is one of our favourite shows, season after season it stands out amongst the sea of shows at London Fashion Week. This season was no different.

Blending several themes to create one whole, cohesive collection, Vivienne Westwood delivered across the board from tailoring and day wear to party dresses and evening gowns. Playful in parts and elegant in others, the AW15 collection includes every version of the Red Label woman.

The colour palette spanned the spectrum and beyond with primary colours, hot pinks, the palest of greens and autumn florals all making an appearance. Textures appeared throughout from flowing silk and tweed to wool and velvet, each keeping to their own sections of the collection.

Westwood’s draping is like nothing else, it is perfection. In previous seasons we have seen swathes of fabric draped to create volume and drama, this season it is entirely more elegant and simple with floor length gowns and revealed backs.
