London Fashion Week: Markus Lupfer AW16
The Markus Lupfer AW16 collection was very typical of the designer, with bold floral prints, embellishment and oversized sunglasses all with a dark and edgy twist. Lupfer designed this collection for the woman who has a 24-hour lifestyle, but always wants to look her best. With this in mind, pieces were created to take the wearer from work to play with ease – think soft silhouettes and longer hemlines uplifted with star prints, romantic embellishment and the odd frill-edged neckline.
The colour palette was dark, with black separates covered in green embroidered flowers, sheer black bomber jackets and midi skirts given a sweeter feel with pink and gold florals, and oversized black mannish coats given the same treatment on large pockets.
More attention seemed to have been given to the footwear and accessories this season, with star-speckled and flower-embroidered slouchy, square-toe boots, and mustard-coloured, structured handbags covered in pink beads.
The Markus Lupfer AW16 collection was a tale of two halves; a collection in which the woman appears ladylike and sophisticated, but look a little closer and you’ll discover a darker, edgier and secretive side.
