It was a play on textiles for Aquascutum SS16 collection, with fabrics usually associated with different experiences reinterpreted, reinvented and restyled for the modern world. The collection was built up of menswear essentials and everyday items that were subtly twisted through intricate details and fabrication.
One of the standout textiles was Ripstop: light and functional creating ideal outerwear for the ever-unpredictable British supper. Another surprising twist came in the form of silk coated in PU used in crafting clean, straightly structured car coats to give a fluid touch of modernity.
The brand’s iconic check reappeared but was delivered deconstructed and updated, being worked into pieces of outerwear and tailoring. Blazers were paired with trousers that cut just above the ankle, styled with brogues or classic slip on loafers.
Inspired by garments Aquascutum created for the Rolling Stones back in the ‘80s, hand stitched embroidery appears throughout the collection. Iconic trench coats were made in silk with hand stitched contrast neps, whilst tailoring, jersey and scarves had delicate floral embroidery reminiscent of a hazy summer’s day in London.
