LYLE & SCOTT - THE CULT OF THE EAGLE
Retro cool and the ultimate fashion statement, Lyle & Scott Vintage is the brand of the moment. Since 2004, their trademark Yellow Eagle has been enjoying a huge revival and cult following, obtaining a strong presence in the UK media and band scene. In 1874, William Lyle and Walker Scott borrowed £1300 to form a small knitwear company in Hawick, in the Scottish borders, and began to manufacture high quality hosiery and underwear. The company expanded rapidly and achieved astonishing success in its early years.
They later responded to market changes and started to manufacture knitted outerwear- twinsets, pullovers, cardigans and jackets for golf. The company rapidly gained a reputation for style and quality and the business continued to grow.
1967 saw the birth of their trademark golden eagle after launching their first golf range inspired by the American golfer Doug Sanders’ love of bright colour schemes.
Lyle and Scott pay homage to past success with the launch of “vintage” in 2002- an authentic trend collection inspired by the colourful golf designs of the 70’s and 80’s- all bearing the distinctive Golden Eagle motif.
