Paul Smith Jeans SS12 - Feb 2 2012

Paul Smith Jeans Spring Summer 12 has arrived at Coggles so we thought we’d take some time to say a little about the collection.

Drawing inspiration from the work of two key cultural figures in France - the late artist Louise Bourgeois and the director Jean Luc Goddard, the colour palette for the collection consists of two themes; the first reflects the inspiration drawn from Bourgeois tapestries - muted and bleached out tones of grey, navy and indigo are mixed with soft pinks and purples – while the second theme contrasts with these soft colours by mixing together strong primaries and acid tones, in reference to the work of Jean Luc Goddard.

Expect chinos and jeans in shades of jade, pink, copper and blue, sitting alongside fluro-floral tie-dye print shirts and t-shirts, while tailored jackets in neutral shades provide a refined finish.

La Mer de Pianos - Jan 30 2012

La Mer de Pianos is a short film exploring the oldest piano shop in Paris, and its owner, Marc Manceaux.

As the title of the film suggests, Marc's shop is quite literally a sea of old pianos, many of which are harvested for spare parts - a process that is visibly difficult for Marc. The film captures the passion and poignancy of his work, particularly the decline in demand that seems to suggest the oldest piano shop in Paris may be on borrowed time.

Li Hiu - Jan 23 2012

We came across photographer Li Hiu's work this week via Fjord - a project showcasing young, up-and-coming photographers.

Her hazy, dreamlike images are inspired by coming of age movies and music - an essential stimulant to get Li in the right mood for taking photos. Interestingly, Li's images never show faces, allowing the viewer to imagine themselves as the subject and enter the photographer's world of past memories and magical dreams.

Such is the quality of her images it was almost impossible to choose which to show in this post, so please click through to huiuh.com to see some more.

Those of you who keep an eye on our Facebook page may have noticed that we’ve been highlighting some of our favourite food blogs recently, many of which do a great job of marrying beautiful looking food with equally beautiful photography – a visual feast in every sense.

Most recently we featured the Blueberry Rhubarb Deep Dish Pie from the excellent Desserts for Breakfast.
