Japanese label Comme des Garçons was founded by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo, 1969. Today it is one of fashion’s most important brands with numerous lines designed by Rei, Junya Watanabe and Tao Kurihara. Innovation and experimentation are fundamental to Comme des Garçons; an avant-garde sense of style permeates the brand, resulting in unique and highly desirable creations from season to season.

For SS/10 Comme des Garçons SHIRT is a juxtaposition of colours and fabrics. Patchwork wools sit on light blue cottons, while shapes are typically relaxed and perfectly complimented by white and navy shorts or rolled up chinos as worn by the models in the runway show.

Stockholm based label ACNE was founded in 1996 as a creative consultancy with the ‘Ambition to Create Novel Expressions’ through fashion, entertainment and technology. One year later, co-founder Jonny Johansson designed 100 pairs of raw denim jeans which were handed out to friends and family; seen in all the right places it wasn’t long before the fashion industry picked up on the effortlessly cool, understated design and a year later ACNE launched its first collection. With a clean, cool aesthetic typical of Scandinavian design, the emphasis is on wearable everyday basics – each piece a framework for individual expression as per the original design philosophy.

For SS10, the Acne man travels to sundrenched India to pick up pieces for his wardrobe. Baggy ‘Goa’ holiday trousers, ethnic inspired t-shirts and colourful, relaxed shirts and tops compliment his smart tailoring and military inspired attire.

Her Turkish heritage, French upbringing and British eccentricity are clear to see in designs and these ingredients fuse to create a style recognised for its relaxed tailoring, layering and chic detail. David Hochbaum - ‘You Are Not Falling, You Are Floating’ - Feb 17 2010

David Hochbaum was born and works in New York City. He was trained at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His work is inspired by an interest in the dream state. His second solo exhibition at the Corey Helford Gallery from February 13th entitled ‘You Are Not Falling, You Are Floating’ will consist of an entire environment of mixed media paintings, photographs and sculptures.

Nudie was founded in 2001 by Maria Erixon, Joakim Levin, Palle Stenberg - three Swedish denim aficionados who cut their teeth working for Lee. They might not have the heritage and history of the original American denim brands, but what they do have is strong principles of using the finest denim available, no sweatshop labour (production is based in Italy) and a firm belief that a good pair of jeans will outlast the whims of fashion.

Childhood friends Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon are the creative force behind Wildfox. Paul Smith Jeans Spring/Summer 10 - Feb 2 2010

Spring/Summer '10 Paul Smith Jeans continues to reference the work of film director Wes Anderson, taking inspiration from his most recent film ‘The Darjeeling Limited’, a story of three brothers’ journey of self discovery through India. Sharp grey marl single breasted jackets and classic trenches sit alongside Indian inspired Hawaiians and paisley shirts. Pastel striped chinos contrast with bright dip-dyed ginghams and bleached out checks. Chambray is introduced into the collection, detailed with soft paisley piping.
