THE DRUMS - SUMMERTIME - OUT NOW - Oct 30 2009

The Drums are a fourpiece from New York who have already received critical acclaim for their debut single ‘I wanna go surfing’. This EP is a fantastic introduction to a band who fuse influences from 80’s indie to 60’s Beach Boys pop, and still manage to add their own contemporary stamp on the sound. All this from a band that only formed less than a year ago!

Fred Perry - wear it all night and still look good in the morning! - Oct 30 2009

Fred Perry is the only brand that's consistently been sought out by youth subculture from the 1950s right up to today. Initially adopted by Mods in 1959 because "They could wear it all night and still look good in the morning" - it has then featured in almost every British youth subculture since.

Updating the attitude and style of two key musical movements - the mid-60s guitar bands, and the post-punk scene of the early-80s, these periods shared a similar sharp, slimmed down silhouette including small collars and narrow ties.

The collections main influence is the look and silhouette of the sixties, a decade dominated by youth when British subcultures influenced the world’s fashion and music industry.

Timberland Boot Co - inspired by the industrial revolution - Oct 28 2009

Timberland Boot Company is inspired by the Industrial Revolution - a time that marked a change in how goods were made, used and worn. From craftsmen using their hands and tools, to technology that precisely and consistently manufactured goods in great quantities. Goods were affected by the elements, normal wear, repair and even adapted for new uses. This ethos has been taken into the Autumn 09 collection creating a durable yet classically stylish range with unquestionable quality of materials and design.

Wrangler - We Are Animals - Oct 28 2009

The history of the Wrangler brand stretches back as far as the 1890’s when C.C Hudson decided to seek his fortune in the emerging textiles industry. Today the Wrangler mission is simple, to bring the consumer the very best in denim innovation whilst remaining true to authentic craftsmanship.

The clothing and accessory collections aim to reflect the Wrangler adrenalin-fuelled and rugged attitude to life - 'We Are Animals' is a call to cast aside the reasoning that stops us and holds us back - in a word - 'instinct'. For AW09 think gingham shirts and dresses, leather jackets and of course jeans to flatter all shapes and sizes.

Haversack - Strength and Durability - Oct 22 2009

Founded in Japan by Koji Norihide in 1998, Haversack has only recently emerged from its native Japan and made it into Europe. Named after the linen and wool bags used by the American Army favoured for their strength and durability, these properties are central to the brands identity and clearly manifest in Haversack designs.

Greatly admired for its contemporary pieces based on old blocks and patterns from workwear, hunting and military uniforms, Haversack places an emphasis on attention to detail that few brands, especially outside of Japan, can match, with each piece beautifully conceived and constructed, utterly timeless and in every sense an investment.

Mixing quintessential English style with quirky flourishes, Oliver Spencer has evolved over the past 7 years to cement itself as a favourite among men looking for wearable, interesting and elegant clothes that are brilliantly put together.

Autumn Winter 2009 sees Oliver Spencer explore his vision of the modern gent at sea, referencing stormier sees as the season would suggest to create a ruggedly elegant collection - modern city dressing that is relaxed yet hardy. Key pieces include the 'Malin' jacket updated for the season in signature, checked waxed cotton and maritime inspired knitwear such as the striped charcoal crew-neck with concealed inside chest pocket.

Wildfox Couture is an American vintage inspired brand that combines quirky prints, unique designs and high quality materials to create must-have t-shirts and tops that the A-list are fighting to get their hands on.

Taking inspiration from native American artwork and vintage rock & roll t-shirts, childhood friends Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon gave birth to the brand, which tells the story of their generation and friendship. Today, the girls spend their time visiting vintage shops and working out of their Silverlake-area design studio - where they sew their hearts on their sleeves and spread peace and love through design.

Cute, colourful and unbelievably comfortable, Wildfox will put a smile on your face on even the most miserable of winter days.

Designed by Kait Bolongaro and Stuart Trevor, founders and former designers of ‘All Saints’, Bolongaro Trevor is one of the hottest labels of the moment. Widely influenced by British niches and subcultures, Bolongaro Trevor cleverly combines these influences with traditional, vintage garments for a modern, sharp and vibrant aesthetic that flatters the figure and always looks styled and sculptured.

IAN BROWN - MY WAY - OUT NOW - Oct 14 2009

The sixth solo album from Ian Brown was recorded during an intense period of rumour and speculation on a potential Stone Roses reunion. While the lyrics of 'For The Glory' include a direct reference to his former band, Brown also claims that 'My Way' was strongly influenced by Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and that it was mastered on the day that Jackson died.

Religion - perfect for rockers and femme fatales - Oct 9 2009

If you are not immediately familiar with the Religion brand you may be forgiven as for the first few years following its birth in 1989 it remained a largely underground label. Since then it has matured into a distinguished brand with a strong hold in the international marketplace and a celebrity following, which in turn has raised the brand’s profile. Kate Moss, Gwen Stefani, Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue have all been captured by the paparazzi camera wearing Religion.

The latest collection is sharp, vibrant and full of Victorian references, perfect for rockers and femme fatales. Key pieces include leather biker jackets, slashed black jeans and wet-look mini dresses.

Diesel Black Gold - worked-over workwear - Oct 8 2009

Everyone is talking about the latest creations emerging from the Diesel powerhouse and the most recent offering is already making waves in the fashion world. Unlike many brands who are currently introducing diffusion and bridge lines, Diesel have opted for a different route, almost creating a new brand to push the Diesel concept even further. It is aimed at the loyal customer who has grown up with Diesel and now demands a more mature collection, a customer whose taste has shifted from the merely fashionable, to an eye for detail, texture, fabric and cut.

For AW09 we travel back in time to the start of the Great Depression with jazz era influenced clothes appearing stained, aged and broken down. Sturdy boots, lots of layering and an oversize bag complete the look and ensure we’re prepared for current recession eventualities.

Twenty8twelve - "rock chic wearable!" - Oct 8 2009

Sienna Miller’s Twenty8Twelve was inspired by a crazy amalgamation of Grace Jones meets the highwayman with the old school Victorian referencing flipped on its head and forced head long in to the birth of new wave and androgynous power dressing. Distorted proportion and referenced sportswear give the collection a modern and fresh vibe, with AW09 described by Vogue as “just right for a rock chic: wearable, a bit romantic, and very sexy.” Need we say more?

ALBERTA CROSS - BROKEN SIDE OF TIME - Oct 5 2009

The full-length debut album from the hairy Anglo-Swedish outfit follows up the 2007 mini album The Thief And The Heartbreaker. Good as that first outing was, it was but a warm-up for the soaring lift-off performed here. This is thrilling and impassioned rock, full of heart, soul and unease. Theirs is a ravaged but exhilarating world, and it's well worth a visit.

Pushing the boundaries, continuous experimentation and product development have led to a strong following worldwide. The rough, rudimentary and raw characteristics of the brand allow G-Star to maintain its distinct and unorthodox style with AW09 featuring outerwear, shirts and cardigans that are distinctly 'armed forces' in feel, as well as plenty of denim, all in typically austere G-Star colour palette.

Timberland Boot Co - work-wear inspired footwear for women - Oct 2 2009

We've been big fans of Timberland Boot Co. for a while at Coggles.com so we're delighted to be stocking the women's collection for the first time this season.

Inspired by women’s workwear during the time period 1918-1945, which started with women gaining the vote and culminated with the end of WWII, the collection celebrates a very empowering period in history for women. Despite the hardship faced by most and employment for many in manufacturing roles traditionally the preserve of men, there was never a loss of femininity and the workwear silhouettes of the time have been faithfully translated into the present day. The result is a perfect mix of purpose and beauty, combined with a quality and attention to detail that makes these shoes and boots as dependable as the women they pay tribute to.

Natural Selection - Premium Denim, Survival of the Fittest - Oct 1 2009

Denim connoisseurs are used to thinking in terms of evolution when it comes to Jeans, affectionately following the ageing process and admiring the subsequent variations that make each pair unique. Perhaps unsurprisingly then a new premium denim label has taken Darwin’s theory of evolution as its inspiration. Named ‘Natural Selection,’ the label thankfully lives up to its hype. Made from 14.5 oz, red selvedge, narrow-width denim from Kurabo Mills, Okayama Japan, with washes ranging from raw through to ‘bruised’, ‘broken’ and finally ‘buried,’ heritage detailing is everywhere with all workmanship authentic and to the highest standard.

If that wasn’t enough to get even the most discerning denim fan hot beneath the collar, each pair features a beautifully hand drawn illustration upon the leather patch specially designed by the graphic artist Reilly as well as a complementary leather bound booklet with a brief introduction to natural selection and hand drawn sketches of the styles offered by the brand. Definitely one of the most exciting new labels of the season, we’re delighted to be stocking Natural Selection at Coggles.com.

Woolrich Woolen Mills - inspired by the great american outdoors - Oct 1 2009

The values of American history and tradition are held in high esteem by Woolrich and this is pleasingly apparent from their new AW09 collection. Japanese designer Daiki Suzuki took hunting and fishing for his inspiration and the result is clothing getting back to basics - pared down to its most simplistic interpretation yet all the while retaining a sense of the great American outdoors.

The ‘silent exclusivity’ of Woolrich makes it a brand favoured by the most discerning – clothing with a purpose that is reliable and rewarding in equal measures. Our favourites this season are the Upland Wool Shadow Plaid Jacket in red and navy with concealed ‘Poacher Pockets’ and the Polo Melton Wool Coat in navy with detachable hunting scene quilted lining.

PPQ - Luxe-Pop Chic - Oct 1 2009

PPQ was founded in 1992 by designers Amy Molyneux and Percy Parker. Their clothes are renowned for being luxurious and high glamour party pieces with an edge, which the brand describes as luxe-pop chic.

Coveted by style conscious celebrities such as Kirsten Dunst, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, Jade Jagger, Agyness Deyn and Peaches Geldof, this season's collection features patchwork prints, elegant jumpsuits and satin shorts in a vibrant colour palette, firmly establishing PPQ as one of the hottest labels of the moment.
