Pointer

Pointer was founded in 2004 by Gareth Skewis in reaction to a footwear market increasingly saturated with technical trainers and hyped up limited edition sneakers with a price tag to match.

Influenced by myriad classically designed shoes Pointer comes from a skateboard/streetwear background but appeals to those looking for something less ubiquitous and more refined. And while Pointer may be just six years old there is a strong sense of tradition and heritage running through the brand: Skewis insists that all his employees train at John Lobb (who have been hand-crafting shoes for the English Royal Family since 1829) an influence that can be seen in Pointer’s classically inspired but contemporary styled designs.

What’s more, Pointer has recently fulfilled a long-term ambition, moving production to Portugal in recognition of the country’s expertise in footwear production. At a company established in 1973, Pointer shoes are predominantly constructed by hand using naturally tanned, premium quality leathers by skilled cobblers. The result is a high quality product that redefines ‘casual’ footwear from a brand that already has all the hallmarks of a modern classic.
