Markus Lupfer’s presentations at London Fashion Week are always one of our favourites here at Coggles. With a relaxed atmosphere, the collection being modelled for two hours as opposed to the usual 5 minutes of catwalk, themed cocktails, the most apt nibbles (this season we were treated to tubs of Wheyhey ice cream) and, the main event, the collection.
This season saw Markus Lupfer take a left turn from the previous season’s inspiration, all the way across the pond to the Sunshine State. The setting for the Markus Lupfer Spring Summer 15 collection was complete with a cocktail shack, VW Camper Van, surfboards and palm trees creating the perfect environment for his new surf inspired pieces.
Unapologetically colourful, the collection was one of pure playfulness, fun and experimentation with colour, fabric and texture. Structured lilac holographic fabric ran throughout the collection creating wrap over skirts, statement dresses and mini skirts. Mirrored by textured jacquard fabric with iridescent threads running through, each piece of the collection complimented the others from the luxury sportswear to the party dresses, creating a well rounded, complete range.
Neoprene sweatshirts nod to the wetsuits of the surfers who inspired the collection without losing Markus Lupfer’s iconic, statement style.
Cropped tops, exposed zips, utility straps, Linda Farrow coloured sunglasses and bejewelled jelly sandals accessorised the collection to add an element of punk and youthful rebellion to the intrinsically surf aesthetic.
