This season has seen the majority of designers call upon the seventies from inspiration, some have taken inspiration from the eighties but surprisingly only Aspinal of London x Être Cécile has turned to the nineties. Though the courtyard of Somerset House was teeming with bright young things wearing their nineties finest (we have seen everything from inflatable backpacks to Spice Girl-esque platforms), the catwalks have been somewhat devoid of a decade most of us at LFW know all too well.
The recent Aspinal of London x Être Cécile collaboration was music to our ears, it is something we had been discussing for the days leading up to it, not entirely sure what to expect but excited at the prospect of seeing something we wouldn’t usually expect from the quintessentially English brand.
The Etre Cecil team had selected their favourite styles from the classic Aspinal of London collection and, together with the Aspinal team, re-worked them to mirror the Être Cécile AW15 collection. Think bright colours, acid house shades, bold check prints, smileys, rubberised leather and check, we wholeheartedly approve. Seeing the collaboration of brands at completely different ends of the spectrum is something we don’t often see, a welcome addition to Autumn/Winter. We already have our eye on the mini trunk.
