The branding boom that the United States enjoyed during the 20th century is almost iconic in itself. The advent of TV, innovative technology, societal change and a post-war optimism brought with it colourful advertising, creativity, and images and characters that are still recognisable and used to this day, forming the basis of modern consumer culture.
Two icons that have stood the test of time of an arguably saturated market are Vans and Peanuts – and the two have come together for the third instalment of their collaborative designs. The collection takes Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts gang – beloved by every generation since his first comic strip appeared in 1950 – and adds those original vintage illustrations to classic Vans designs.
You’ll find Snoopy and his sidekick Woodstock bedecked in sunglasses on the side of the Sk8 Hi, the Vans side stripe reinvented in a Charlie Brown zig zag, and Snoopy trying his luck with Lucy on cult-favourite the Old Skool. In short, it’s a collection of two American icons making something completely new and original. Discover the full Vans x Peanuts collection on Coggles here.
