Passage by Do Ho Suh

Currently at Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center, Korean-American artist Do Ho Suh’s ‘Passage’ exhibition is a series of life-size fabric replicas of houses he has lived in throughout his life. Born in South Korea, Do Ho Suh later moved to the United States and now lives in London; these structures are the manifestation of his own migrations, and how he perceives the notion of home.

Describing the home (and life) as an unending passageway, his installations focus on the stairwells, corridors and doors that connect one space to the other. His colourful yet translucent structures almost float, creating a ghost-like image representative of Do Ho Suh’s memories of his former homes.
