LEVI'S VINTAGE

Levi’s Vintage – 1954 501’s, mens faded 12oz Cone Mills selvedge denim jeans, 14oz after washing, based on the 1954 style of 501’s from the Levi’s archives. The shrink to fit jeans feature contrast stitching, a zip fly and five pockets with copper rivets. The jeans also feature a slim straight leg, two rear pockets with copper rivets, the Levi’s double needle Arcuate stitch, Red Tab label and leather waistband patch.

Made from the original Levi’s XX Denim, these jeans are unwashed and designed to be shrunk to fit the wearer. The general recommendation is that you add two inches to each of your regular waist and leg measurements. Do not alter the hem of your jeans until the shrinking process is complete, as they can shrink up to 10%.

Taking inspiration from Levi’s rich heritage, the Levi’s Vintage collection is made up of classic reworked pieces from the brand’s iconic historical archives.

The selvedge (British English) or selvage (US English) is the white woven edge on both edges of the fabric width, which prevents unravelling or fraying and is a result of how the fabric is created. Traditionally white, the selvedge has been adapted more recently to create unique signature colours for specific, prestigious denim brands. In woven fabric, the selvedge is the edge that runs parallel to the warp (the longitudinal threads that run the entire length of the fabric), and is created by the weft thread looping back at the end of each row.

Traditionally an old 29 inch shuttle loom was used.

The terms selvedge and selvage are a corruption of "self-edge", and have been in use since the 16th century.
