Church’s – Downish, mens hand crafted, navy tri-colour polished binder leather wingtip brogues with exaggerated punching detail and a burnished, distressed appearance. The shoes are Goodyear welted with contrast rolled laces, a rounded toe, embossed Church’s leather insole, stacked 2.5cm heel and a brick red rubber sole. Each shoe lining features a hand written style name and code.
Polished binder leather’s unique appearance is hand applied by Church’s own master craftsmen. The hand polished appearance can only be applied to certain types of leather and gives each pair a unique, individual finish. The skin’s are hand selected with the final treatment in mind and waxed gradually to build up the depth and shading – enhancing the natural beauty of the leather.
Founded in 1873, Church’s were the first shoemakers to introduce the concept of individual ‘right’ and ‘left’ shoes. Today each pair of Church’s shoes can take up to eight weeks to produce, with each undergoing 250 detailed manual operations by specialised craftsmen, before they leave the factory.
